Since 1999, XEAI has been working quietly behind the scenes to keep the best creative minds of the game, CG, and a few other industries from getting any work done. This secret society has been sharing stupid links, discussing politics and religion, and mostly just wasting time.

Of course, periodically, a key morsel of critical info has been shared…maybe a behind-the-scenes peek at the inner workings of the most important companies in the business…maybe just some weird bit of super useful advice. It happens here.

XEAI has grown over the years to include people outside of the aforementioned game/CG businesses. We welcome creatives, technologists, and anyone that loves (or is loved by) robots.

XEAI History

The name “XEAI” is a reference to being “ex-EAI” or, a former employee of the now defunct company Engineering Animation, Inc. (EAI). XEAI founder, Robert Coshland started the site in 1999 after during a division-wide layoff that dissolved EAI’s interactive division (which produced PC games and CG effects).

XEAI was originally an open forum that resided on the webzine Psychicpet.com. After the usual rash of crazy, psycho posts that come with public, anonymous forums, the site was made private and moved to x-eai.com. In 2001 the forums were moved to xeai.com.

The public blog of XEAI is written exclusively by Robert Coshland though much of its inspiration comes from popular posts in the private forums.
